Berdoussis Hotel Review, Elafonisos, Greece.

The Berdoussis Hotel on Elafonisos Island in the Peloponesse is a perfect blend of budget comfort and family run Greek hospitality. An absolute oasis of tranquility on one of the most picture perfect yet underrated Greek islands, the Berdoussis Hotel is an ideal home away from home for travellers.

This is a paid article written in partnership with Mythical Peloponnese, with products or services supplied by them. Full editorial integrity is maintained at all times. The views and opinions expressed are entirely the authors own based on personal experiences when travelling and are honest and factual without any bias.

A family run hotel with an overwhelmingly friendly, welcoming service, full of local charm, in a great location and at a budget level that will be comfortable for most backpackers, the Berdoussis Hotel on Elafonissos is the perfect option for those travellers who are Greek island hopping on a budget, but still want a high level of comfort.

Location.

The Berdoussis Hotel is in a quiet location just a few minutes easy walk from the harbour front and has a range of local shops, tavernas, cafes and restaurants within easy reach. Elafonisos island is only small and easy to get around, especially if you hire a car or a bike, and the famous, world class beaches are easily reachable too, Kontogoni beach is roughly 5 minutes walk while Simos beach is a 10 minuter drive, making the Berdoussis Hotel an excellent base from which to explore the island.

The Price.

The Berdoussis Hotel is firmly within a budget price range, but with a level of service and amenities that far exceed what you pay and when compared to the cost of island hopping on some of the more popular Greek island puts it firmly in the absolute great value category.

The Room.

Rooms are over three floors and some have private balconies, others have sea views. Most rooms are not huge, but are of a good size for the price, basic but tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. The double beds are comfortable and the quaint wooden shutters on the windows add a nice touch. A TV and air con are of course included, as is a fridge, and the en suite bathroom is as you would expect. Nothing fancy, but everything you need for a long term comfortable stay and absolute great value by Greek standards.

The Ameneties.

There is a residents bar and breakfast lounge on the ground floor, where breakfast is served every morning with only fresh, local ingredients and drinks are available at any time to enjoy in the Hotels small garden.

The Service.

This is where the Berdoussis Hotel really shines above and beyond everything else. The rooms are fantastic, especially given the budget price, the location and the food are great, but the service absolutely defines Greek hospitality! From the moment I arrived I was fussed over and made to feel like I was genuinely being looked after as I was shown to my room. This is a true family run hotel, and it really shows!

The Verdict.

If Elafonisos island itself deserves all the usual hidden gem superlatives that are overused in the travel industry, then the Berdoussis Hotel can certainly claim to be the crown jewel of its accommodation options. Perfectly located with great service and a budget level that is a borderline bargain for the Greek islands, this is a great choice for any traveller wanting to base themselves on a paradise island for a week or two.

Looks fantastic, I wouldn’t exactly call it a budget hotel though, I just looked at random dates in September and it was coming back at £70 a night.

    • It’s all relative Dave, for Greece that is at the higher end of budget but it is still budget. Even on a lower budget level a hostel bed in Greece can be £30! I’d say mid range is around £100 -150 a night. With luxury you can spend way more!

Definitely budget here. There is cheaper for extreme budgets but you won’t get a private room etc

Yes it certainly looks an expensive destination by my budget.
There are cheaper places though ( I hope I’m not coming across as argumentative 😂) .

      • Of course, prices fluctuate and you can always find cheaper and always find more expensive ones, it is about shopping around at the time you are going, but it still falls within the budget range ;D

Looks great! I am definitely going to plan a trip to Elaffonissos for my big Greek trip in Autumn thanks to your last post so will absolutely check this hotel out. Thank you for the recommendation.

Just looked at prices for a room and staying in a private room here is pretty much the same as a hostel bed for two of us (that we’d have to share with others!) Thanks for the recommendation.

Have just booked a stay here for September! Thanks for the honest review.
