Great video. I have been watching and reading all your Egypt content over the last few months and you have inspired me! I have just booked my ticket for July because of you! Eek!

    • That’s amazing Miska, thank you so much for reading and it makes me really happy to know that it has inspired you to go! You’ll have an amazing time in Egypt! Let me know if you have any questions about it.

I went to Egypt in March and did not enjoy it at all. We decided to stay in Cairo this time as well as Sinai and I was glad to leave and get some peace and quiet. With the constant honking and blaring of horns from the cars there was just no let up and this is not the vacation I dreamed of. You will be harrassed constantly, people constantly trying to get more money out of you, people lying to you. I will not go back and wouldn’t recommend it.

    • Sorry Egypt didn’t live up to your expectations Norman, and I agree that the traffic can be noisy as hell it is hardly a reason to hate the place, in fact it can be part of its charm, and I certainly don’t think it is fair to say you will be constantly harrassed or scammed. Yes Cairo – and Egypt – isn’t perfect and has its problems but the good outweighs the bad by a metric ton. Some people just don’t gel with some destinations and that is okay, but I love Egypt, think the problems are easily manageable and will definitely recommend it to as many people as possible.

Great video! I’ve wanted to visit but was concerned about security.

You are brave! No way would i think about egypt in this political climate. i just cannot imagine being even 200 miles near there. so so unstable.

    • I’m not brave and it is not unstable, not in the slightest. The closest Egypt has gotten to unstable (and even then it still wasn’t) was during the revolution in 2011. I was there then too, and it was still relatively safe.

My husband and I were there three years ago and it was one of the best countries we have ever visited. It wasn’t “dangerous” in the least like so many say it is and we were so glad to have gone!

  7. Kathy's avatar Kathy says:

We were there in 2015 and loved it. Everyone was kind and helpful and I never once felt in danger there. It’s an amazing country with amazing people.

I came across your blog by chance and fell in love with it through all your Egypt content. Thank you!

Everyone needs to watch this video and I’m sharing it to as many places as I can. I’m so tired of the internet warning against travel to Egypt. As a woman who has been there multiple times now I have had few no hassle or felt any danger. I’ve been less fearful in Egypt than many places in the US.

  10. Val's avatar Val says:

Planning a solo trip there soon! 🥰

  11. Dan's avatar Dan says:

I am 100% with you on this, I have spent months at a time all over Egypt and everyone should visit as soon as possible. It is such an awesome country.

  12. Lisa's avatar Lisa says:

Egypt is amazing, we were there last year. We did Cairo and then Luxor to Aswan on a cruise then back to Cairo and home. I honestly did not feel unsafe at any point. We were made to feel very welcome by everyone (but the hassling about tips can get a bit much).

    • I agree the hassle can sometimes get a little tiresome but with the Baksheesh if you treat it as a cultural thing youy can actually have a bit of fun with it, I’ve actually been given some Baksheesh (and gave it straight back of course and had a nice moment over it). I’m glad you had a great time otherwise!
