Bemused Backpacker is proud to announce our new partnership with Global Spirit, the animals in tourism specialists!
Global Spirit is a specialist team who conduct animal welfare and responsible practice audits for any wildlife tour and experience around the world, helping to establish a set of minimum standards and best practices for responsible wildlife tourism that all operators and providers can work toward.
Long term readers will know that I have been a passionate advocate for responsible and ethical wildlife tourism for a long time, and this new partnership will team that global crusade with a powerful organisation and a practical way to make that change happen.
This new initiative aims to increase engagement in ethical and responsible wildlife tourism, offer new and better opportunities for the travel and tourism industry to have a positive impact on animal welfare and conservation, and encourage all wildlife attractions and operators to work towards implementing improved practices.
In short, we are no longer just advocating for responsible wildlife tourism, we are showing the wildlife tourism industry a real path to change. We are not just advocating for best practice, but stating what that best practice should be and guiding wildlife tour operators through a practical set of minimum standards of improvement.
The travel industry can be a genuinely powerful force for change, and together we can ensure that travel and tourism can have a positive impact on animal care and wildlife tourism around the world!
Stay tuned, and expect to see a lot more of our work together in the new year!
