This month marks the second Birthday of the Bemused Backpacker website, and it has been an absolutely awesome journey watching the site grow and expand into everything it has become today.
This time last year I was watching the site just start to hit its stride on its first birthday and gain ground, and now just one year later I am extremely proud of everything it has become. This year has been huge for me and the website and it has grown faster than I ever anticipated. I have been mentioned and featured in a variety of national press and media, the Bemused Backpacker book series is going strong and has new lines ready to be added in the coming year, and the travel services section was added and now provides a fully fledged online travel clinic, a gap year safety consultation service for travellers and for parents and guardians, and even provides expert resources and services for educational professionals. My partnership with Care For The Wild International is still as strong as ever for as long as the charity is running, as is my commitment to promoting wildlife friendly tourism, and I have taken on a new ambassadorship role for the awesome Go Cambio, who are the future of the sharing economy for travellers and backpackers alike.
It hasn’t always been easy to get to this point, in fact it has been damn hard work, but every single second has been absolutely worth it.
I guess what I want to say is thank you, thank you to each and every one of you who has read – and continues to read – my articles and my books. Thank you to all of you who have made the consultation services and the travel clinic a success, and thank you to everyone who has helped make Bemused Backpacker a success. You have no idea how much I appreciate it all and I hope you stay with me, because if you think this year has been good, the next will be even better!
I’d still love to hear from you all though, let me know in the comments section below what you like – or even don’t like – about the site. Tell me where you think I’m doing well or where you think I can improve, tell me if there is anything travel or gap year related that you would like to see on here. This site is for you all out there, new and experienced travellers alike, so I want to make it as useful as possible for you.
As always, please feel free to continue the discussion on my Facebook or Twitter pages and if you want to get more great backpacking tips, advice and inspiration, please subscribe to updates via email in the box to your right.
Congratulations and happy blog anniversary 😊
Thank you very much. 🙂
Happy Birthday! Congrats on all your hard work paying off, I really enjoy reading your site – it was your articles about responsible travel that got me hooked at the start 🙂
Thanks Fabio I appreciate it! Plenty more to come yet! 🙂
Happy Birthday to you 🙂 Keep up the great work! Love what you do.
Thank you so much. 🙂
Mike – Congratulations so much on your success! We’ve just passed the one year mark recently. It has amazed me how much work the blog has been, but that said, it’s also been a very rewarding effort. Glad you are finding the same.
Thank you so much, and congrats to you too! It’s hard work but I totally agree, more than worth it!
